Year after year, the boys from years 7-13 have got the opportunity to attend one of the schools most highly awaited events: the half night camp. Since several girls would love to be involved in such an event too, the sports department made a key change in organzing the schools first ever held girls half night camp.
On February 20th 2019, all the girls came dressed in their sports gear ready to give it their all. Over 40 girls were divided into teams of 4; each team had a leader from Year 11, ready to assist them at all times. |
The games had begun. Starting off with hockey at 3pm, then football, and finally basketball, each team played against the other, giving it their best shot. The white team took the win. Nevertheless, there were two remaining sports for another two teams to shine.

With the scorching sun reflecting on all of us, it was tiring to keep going, but with the encouragement from our teachers and peers we were determined to get through it.

Throughout the game of football there were several penalties and injuries but it’s a part and parcel of the game. Once again the white team won, leaving the chances of winning for the other teams lower, but the perseverance stayed till the very end, which I find extremely inspirational.
Alas came the match for the last and final sport, basketball, an intense game of 30 minutes to see whether or not the white team would be the overall winners. Unfortunately the white team lost and the red team had come first in this particular sport.

The games had ended and it was finally time to eat. We each got a box of food and juice which we very much savored. Enjoying the music and swaying to the tunes was part of the event too. After a while it was time for the award ceremony. With chills passing down our spine, the first overall winner was declared as the white team, as they had the most points. The whole team sprang up and ran to collect their medals in excitement. WHITE TEAM As for the individual winners, for basketball Alicia Kunte had received best basketball player, Sara Bihmani, for the best football player and Anushka Bhatia, the best hockey player.

In conclusion, this event, organized by the student council was extremely enjoyable as the girls from years 9 and 10 had a wonderful time. As Walt Disney rightly said, “the difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting”, and every one of the players took along this belief home, proud of themselves for giving it their best, and knowing that there is always scope for improvement for the next time.
